Welcome to Canyon Park Middle School!
We are so glad you are here.
As Principal of Canyon Park, my vision is to create a future in partnership with our staff, students, families, and community where students leave Canyon Park with a strong sense of positive self and cultural identity, connections to their community, and a knowledge that the experiences and skills gained here have prepared them to make positive contributions to our local and global society.
I am a proud Latina originally from Fajardo, Puerto Rico. At the start of 6th grade, my family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where I remained until I earned my Masters in the Arts of Teaching from the University of Memphis. My career in middle and high school science teaching and leadership spans over 14 years in Tennessee, California, and Washington. A few highlights of my teaching career: creating opportunities for students as STEM Global Health program coordinator/leader, raising student voice as an ASB Activities Coordinator, obtaining and renewing my National Board Certification in science, and promoting and creating race-based equity initiatives as a building administrator and leader.
My calling towards education was forged by teachers and school leaders who cared – they paid attention, were nurturing, provided support, and instilled in me a strong sense of belonging. I am proud to continue these efforts and to create inclusive, equitable, welcoming environments of excellence for all students, their families, and staff at Canyon Park.
I love to walk, hike, read, cook, travel, and play video games, often doing all of these alongside John, my husband, and my cats Dudley and Whiskey.
My name is David Watson and I am ecstatic about being the Assistant Principal at Canyon Park Middle School. My educational vision focuses on the importance of inclusion, celebrating diversity and recognizing the importance of student voice.
Prior to my educational career, I worked within the field of law enforcement. Routinely, I would ask some of the individuals I came in contact with how they ended up on the “road to trouble”. On several occasions, these individuals indicated if they had someone in middle/high school who could have guided them in the right direction, they do not think they would have landed in prison. From this point on, I realized early intervention was the key and wanted to do everything in my power to curb the school to prison pipeline.
My educational career began in 2015 at O’Dea High School. Proudly, I provided my students with a safe and secure learning environment where they were afforded a platform to advocate for themselves and find their student voice.
After teaching at O’Dea, I enrolled in Seattle University and obtained an M.A. in Educational Administration. For the last two years, I was the Vice Principal of St. George Parish School and loved every bit of it.
I believe Teamwork makes the Dreamwork, focus on a mission driven platform and look forward to getting to know each of you and the students of the Northshore District.
I started at CPMS in 2018 as a Paraeducator working with mid-level students. I cannot even express how much I enjoyed being back in middle school. When the Office Manager position became available, I jumped at the opportunity to utilize 30+ years of office experience with the combined opportunity to support students, parents, and staff.
I grew up in Woodinville, attending Cottage Lake, Leota, and graduating from Woodinville High School. I was voted "Class Clown", which still applies to me today, I have always loved making people laugh. When I am not doing schoolwork, I love a good book, 80's music, hiking, riding my bike, and hanging with family and friends.
Canyon Park Middle School has a special place in my heart. All of my children attended Canyon Park and I have worked here since 2009. I have the unique perspective as a parent, staff member, and as a member of the greater Bothell community. The students, families, and staff are simply the best!
If you have questions regarding clubs, sports, or anything else, please feel free to contact me.
When not working, you will find me gardening, reading, and spending time with family (furry members included) and friends.
I've been at Canyon Park since 2017. You can find me in the front office and, as Attendance Secretary, I will always be happy to see you. I love to read, and I love to cook. My favorite interactions with students are when I get recommendations for books and recipes.
My name is Mrs. Mildenhall and I am the registrar at Canyon Park. I have been at Canyon Park since 2014 and love the students, staff, and community that make Canyon Park so great. I am here to help students and parents with enrollment, registration, and records requests.
When I am away from work, I love to spend time with my family. Our favorite place to visit is the Oregon Coast.
